Trade Fair Review 2017

From 17 to 21 September, we took part in EUCAS 2017 (European Congress on Applied Superconductivity) in Geneva.

This convention was organised by CERN in cooperation with the University of Geneva and the EPFL-SPC (Swiss Plasma Center, Lausanne). EUCAS is a worldwide forum for scientists and engineers, and provides an ideal platform on which to share knowledge and the most recent advances in all areas of applied superconductivity. This range from major applications through to miniature electronic devices – focusing on high-quality materials and special applications.

As part of a poster session, Manuel Spielhofer (Materials Engineer at ETH) introduced our project findings in the hot working and complete machining of coil formers for superconducting magnets. There was a great deal of interest in his explanations and we were able to establish some new business contacts.

A special highlight at the end of the conference was the visit at our customer CERN to see the test bench for superconducting magnets – including components made by Imbach. It is fantastic to have such an impressive major research facility in Switzerland, and it makes us proud to contribute to the basic research in physics as a supplier of components.
